Mitigate and/or restore wetlands which have been altered by past Air Force actions and mosquito control activities conducted by the Brevard county Mosquito Control District. This project received funding in FY 93 and this project will continue the effort towards total restoration of all impacted wetlands on CCAFS.
A. This project will help preserve biodiversity by creating and restoring wetlands. Wetlands serve as breeding, feeding, and refuge areas for various species of birds and other vertebrates. B. Wetlands also provide other ecological benefits, including flood attenuation, storm force reduction, erosion control, nutrient sinks, water quality maintenance, drought relief aquifer and groundwater recharge, and drinking water.
