habitat degradation, species of fish (several species of salmon and trout are proposed for listing under Endangered Species Act, this project would benefit chinook, chum and sea-run cutthroat trout as well as several migratory waterfowl.
This project seeks to restore about 6.2 acres of habitat. Of that 1 acre of estuarine marsh would be created and a stream would be "daylighted" (it currently is routed through an outfall that presents a fish barrier at the outlet).
Fish passage to about a mile of stream, stream provides spawning, rearing and refuge habitat to coho, steelhead and cutthroat. One acre of estuarine marsh will benefit chinook, chum and cutthroat. Also migratory waterfowl such as common merganser, bufflehead, pintail, and widgeon will get an increase in cover and food supply as result of the projectWas a cost-benefit study conducted for this project? yes/no If yes, provide a summary of findings.

This is a Corps 1135 project. King County is the local sponsor. Several agencies have provided funding to the County to help purchase an easement from Seattle City light, which is the property owner. The contributing agencies include USFWS, NMFS, Suquamish and Muckleshoot Tribes, City of Seattle, King Co., Washington Departments of Ecology and Fisheries and Wildlife.
