The Massachusetts Audubon Society in Newburyport is conducting the Joppa Flats Salt Marsh Restoration Project. The USEPA, NRCS, NMFS, USDOT and USACE are providing technical assistance to this WRBP project. Preliminary plans have been submitted for federal and state permit review. The proponent is working to address agency comments before finalizing the design of a system of salt marsh creeks, pools and pannes. This project will enhance the existing salt marsh for waterfowl and shorebird habitat, and provide an educational resource for the proposed Audubon Society facility at the site.
