Falkners Island is a FWS refuge that has a historic DOT lighthouse, which is in danger of being undermined by erosion. The federally endangered Roseate tern also inhabits this small island in central Long Island Sound. The COE in cooperation with FWS and DOT has begun technical studies for preventing further erosion while enhancing the nesting habitat for the endangered turn. Further action is dependent on the inclusion of this project as a directed congressional action in the '95 WRDA.
