Chapman Pond is a 100-acre freshwater tidal marsh in East Haddam. It is a Ramsar site, a wetland of international significance. It is home to four state rare plants, and is a bald eagle winter roost site. The goal of the current work on this wetland is the removal of phragmites, and purple loosestrife, invasives which with continuing efforts, estimated to cost $5,000, can be treated to assure the continuing health of an important threatened resource.
