Benton hill is forty acres in Sharon of a calcareous wetland with several state rare plants and a federally listed rare lizard. The Nature Conservancy is seeking to control an infestation of invasive plants including phragmites, buckthorn, and purple loosestrife. TNC estimates 175 person hours, about $2,500 are required to support a summer crew to deal with the invasives, returning the fen to past it’s productivity.
