This 60-acre fen in Salisbury is home to a federally endangered species of reptile listed as threatened and Schweinitz’s sedge, listed as threatened by the state. Lower levels of water due to ditching has likely caused drier than normal conditions. The reduced water levels have caused an influx of invasive non-native species, which include phragmites, bush honeysuckle, and multi-flora rose. The Nature Conservancy hopes to manage the site to improve the habitat quality of the fen and promote rare species through the control of the invasive species that are degrading it.
