ene Cope from NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service has passed away. A long time friend of the Coastal America Partnership, Gene served as our Education Outreach Coordinator from 1995-1996 and was instrumental in establishing the Learning Center Network. Over the years, he has been actively involved in partnership projects as the NMFS representative to our educational partnership. He was especially committed to youth ocean education efforts and coordinated our first Student Ocean Summit.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 5 pm in Falls Church, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Coastal America Foundation's - Gene Cope Memorial Youth Ocean Education Fund (see below).
