Community Forum on the Deepwater Horizon Event What are scientists learning about its impact?

All sites will be networked via video-conferencing technology, and audiences will hear from and be able to ask questions of scientists at each location Admission: FREE; open to the general public, families, students and teachers. No pre-registration is required.
The Deepwater Horizon event stimulated a great deal of scientific research in the Gulf of Mexico region. On Saturday December 3, join the Dauphin Island Sea Lab for a conversation with some of the scientists doing this research. Three locations across Alabama will host the event and will be networked via video-conferencing technology. Audiences will hear from and be able to ask questions of scientists at each location.
Scheduled speakers and talks are: * Dr. Marcus Drymon, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Implications of the Deepwater Horizon explosion on Alabama's fisheries. * Dr. Asim Bej, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Little things rule the world: microbial responses to oil. * Dr. Ken Halanych, Auburn University, Oil spill impacts on sediment dwelling animals in the Gulf of Mexico. * Dr. Thane Wibbels, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Oil spill impacts on terrapins and turtles in coastal waters.
