Northwest Region

northwestreg.gifThe Northwest Regional Implementation Team (NWRIT) addresses watershed management and conservation of coastal habitat in Oregon and Washington State. The NWRIT also works closely with their non-governmental and private sector partners to support the establishment of a Northwest Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership chapter. The team continues to involve the Oregon National Guard through use of the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program on select efforts that both preserve valuable coastal habitats and provide the military with essential training opportunities. Guard reservists are able to practice heavy equipment operations as they manipulate coastal dune areas, assisting with the natural resource agencies' goal of eliminating invasive species. In addition to endorsing regional and IRT projects the team continues its support of its Coastal Ecosystem Learning Centers, the Seattle Aquarium, the Hatfield Marine Science Center and the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
