The Mid-Atlantic Regional Implementation Team (MARIT) strategy focuses on:
- restoring estuarine wetlands
- reducing non-point source pollution from urban and farm areas,
- restoration of endangered and threatened species
- promoting growth to enhance membership, and
- increasing resources for project development.
To achieve these goals MARIT leadership expanded their interaction with state Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership (CWRP) chapters through sub-regional MARIT meetings. Consequently, the team launched a new CWRP chapter in Maryland in October 2008 and continues to support existing CWRP chapters. MARIT also continues to support marine education and public outreach through its Coastal Ecosystem Learning Centers: the National Aquarium, Adventure Aquarium & NJAAS and the New York Aquarium.
